1980 Rolex Oyster Cosmograph 'Daytona' chronograph bracelet watch in stainless steel, in production from the late 1960's to the mid-1980's. Near-mint stainless steel case with black plastic calibrated tachymetre bezel, screw down chronograph pushers and winding crown, and screw case back. Original brushed silver dial with black sub-dials at 3,6 and 9, signed Rolex Oyster Cosmograph, and Daytona in red above the bottom counter. Nickel plated Rolex manual wind movement. Fitted with the stainless steel Rolex Oyster solid link bracelet. This watch is complete with the green leather Rolex presentation box, outer cardboard slipcase, Cosmograph booklet, and wallet. This watch was also available with the exotic "Paul Newman" dial. Model #6263

1979 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller Submariner bracelet watch, made for the COMEX diving company, in production from the late 1960's to the early 1980's. Large size stainless steel case with rotating black diving bezel, helium gas escape valve, screw down "Triplock" winding crown, and screw case back engraved with the COMEX serial number. Original matt black dial with heavy white luminous hour markers and mercedes hands. Signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual, 2,000ft=600m, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, and Swiss T-25. The word "COMEX" in a heavy white block replaces the "Sea Dweller" signature. Nickel plated Rolex self-winding automatic mechanism. Fitted with the original solid link stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet with Fliplock clasp. It is estimated around 1,000 Rolex Submariner and Sea Dweller watches were ordered and supplied to the French diving company, many of these watches are regarded as prototype watches (such as the ref. 5514 Submariner). Use of Rolex diving watches by Comex gave Rolex valuable information about the performance of the watches in extreme conditions, and led to the development of the helium gas escape valve. Rolex Oyster Perpetual 'Patent-Pending' "double red-writing" Sea-Dweller Submariner 2,000 Date bracelet watch, circa 1967. Large size stainless steel case with bi-directional rotating diving bezel with black insert, and screw down "Triplock" winding crown and helium gas escape valve. Screw case back engraved Rolex with the single Rolex crown above, and "Rolex Patent - Gas Escape Valve - Oyster". Original thick "super-dome" acrylic crystal. Original "Mk II tropical" matt black dial with coffee-coloured tritium dot and baton hour markers and matching mercedes hands. Dial signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, Sea-Dweller Submariner 2,000 (in red writing), 2,000ft=610m, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, and Swiss T-25. Nickel plated Rolex self-winding automatic mechanism. Fitted with the original folded link stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet with Fliplock buckle with the "Patent Pending" fold-out diving extension piece. Model ref. 1665 Case no. 2247***


Rolex Oyster Perpetual 'Metres first' "red writing" Submariner Date bracelet watch, circa 1967. Large size stainless steel case with bi-directional rotating black diving bezel, screw down "Triplock" winding crown, and "top hat" acrylic crystal. Original matt black dial with heavy white luminous hour markers and mercedes hands. Signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, Submariner (in red), 200m=660ft, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, and Swiss T-25. Nickel plated Rolex self-winding mechanism. Fitted with the Rolex Oyster bracelet with Fliplock clasp. Model ref. 1680 Case no. 2215***


1973 Rolex Oyster Perpetual "red writing" Submariner Date bracelet watch, in production from the late 1960's to the mid-1970's. Large size stainless steel case with bi-directional rotating black diving bezel, screw down "Triplock" winding crown, and acrylic crystal. Original matt black dial with heavy white luminous hour markers and mercedes hands. Signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, Submariner (in red), 660ft=200m, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, and Swiss T-25. Nickel plated Rolex self-winding mechanism. Fitted with the original stainless steel folded link Rolex Oyster bracelet. Model #1680


1972 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner watch, British military issue, issued by the Royal Navy until 1977. Large stainless steel case, with brushed case sides, fixed strap bars, screw down Rolex crown, and acrylic crystal. Fitted with the 60 minute marker bezel unique to the military issue Rolex Submariner. Screw case back with military issue markings. Original black dial with luminous dot and baton hour markers, outer minute marks, and signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual, 660ft=200m, Submariner, and Swiss T-25, with a white T in a circle. Original white metal sword hour hand, pencil minute hand, and arrow centre seconds hand. Nickel plated Rolex calibre 1520 movement with hacking seconds (seconds hand stops when the winder is pulled out to allow time synchronisation). The watch is fitted with a NATO-style nylon strap. It is estimated that around 1,250 Rolex Submariner watches (ref. 5513 and 5517) were bought by the British Ministry of Defence and issued up until the late 1970s. Model ref. 5513


1970's Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner Chronometer bracelet watch, produced from the early 1960's until the mid-1970's. Large size stainless steel case with bi-directional rotating black diving bezel, screw down "Triplock" winding crown, and acrylic crystal. Original matt black dial with heavy white luminous hour markers and mercedes hands. Signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Submariner, 660ft=200m, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, and Swiss T-25. Nickel plated Rolex self-winding automatic movement. Fitted with the solid link stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet. Model #5512


1964 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner bracelet watch, in production until the mid-1980's. Large size stainless steel case with bi-directional rotating black diving bezel, original screw down winding crown, screw case back, and domed acrylic crystal. Original gloss black dial with fine gilt print minute marks, heavy white luminous hour markers and gilt mercedes hands. The dial is signed in gilt print Rolex, Oyster Perpetual, 200m=660ft (as opposed to the more common 660ft=200m), Submariner, Swiss T-25. Nickel plated Rolex calibre 1530 automatic 26 jewel movement. Fitted with the stainless steel rivet-link Rolex Oyster bracelet. This model is sometimes referred to as the James Bond model after Roger Moore in "Live and Let Die". Model #5513


1984 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Explorer II Chronometer bracelet watch (side view), in production from the early 1970's until the mid-1980's. Large stainless steel case with calibrated 24 hour bezel and acrylic crystal, screw down winding crown, and screw case back. Matt black dial with white baton hands, very distinctive orange 24 hour pointer, and white centre seconds hand. Nickel plated Rolex self-winding automatic mechanism. Fitted with the original stainless steel Rolex Oyster solid link bracelet. This watch is frequently referred to as the "Steve McQueen" (or "Frecceone" - Italian for "big arrow"). Model ref. 1655


1980's Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer Chronometer bracelet watch, in production from the late 1950's until the mid-1980's. Stainless steel case with polished bezel, screw case back, screw down Twinlock winding crown, and acrylic crystal. Original matt black dial with bold white baton hour markers, bold white arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9, and outer printed minute marks. Signed Rolex, Oyster Perpetual, Explorer, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, and Swiss T-25. White metal mercedes hands. Nickel plated Rolex calibre 1570 twenty six jewel self-winding mechanism, with hacking seconds. Fitted with the original Rolex Oyster solid link bracelet. Model #1016


1950's Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date GMT-Master Chronometer bracelet watch, in production from 1953 until 1960. Thin stainless steel case with the screw down Rolex winding crown, screw case back, acrylic crystal, and rare original rotatable red and blue 'bakelite' calibrated 24 hour bezel. Original gloss black dial with gilt minute track and off-white luminous baton hour markers. Signed Rolex, Oyster-Perpetual, GMT-Master, Officially Certified Chronometer, and Swiss. Mercedes hands and red 24 hour pointer with tiny triangular tip. Nickel plated Rolex self-winding automatic mechanism. Fitted with the rare stainless steel rolled link English-made Rolex bracelet. This model does not have the shoulders protecting the winding crown. Model #6542
