Such "duo-dial" watches with oversize subsidiary seconds displays are frequently referred to as "doctor's watches" as it was long held the seconds track was for reading pulses, although in reality, due to their relatively high price, it is more likely these watches could only be afforded by doctors and professionals! The Gruen duo-dial watch was sold in the north American market at the same time the Rolex Prince was offered in the European and other world markets, although the movements for both watches were identical, and produced in the same Aegler factory in Switzerland. A very affordable alternative to the iconic Rolex Prince. Examples of the Gruen watch in silver are rare! Case no. 406327 Price: £1,800 (Stock #12241) Status: Available
